Seneye initially launched their revolutionary water monitoring devices to assist aquarists in understanding what is happening inside their valued aquariums. Seneye made a groundbreaking revelation - by continuously and cost-effectively monitoring vital water parameters, aquarium enthusiasts could proactively detect issues before they escalate into catastrophic disasters, embracing the philosophy of prevention over cure.

However, Seneye isn’t just revolutionising water monitoring indoors for aquarium hobbyists. We also offer a lineup of products designed for commercial settings and harsh outdoor environments. From garden ponds to wastewater management, aquaculture, rain-fall monitoring and much more, Seneye is your perfect partner to keep a check on animal welfare and aquatic environmental protection.

Seneye Outdoor Water Monitoring Solutions

Water is the source of all life, and to keep it healthy, careful monitoring is required particularly considering the numerous human processes that contaminate it.

Seneye’s patented optical test circuits allow us to produce multi-parameter water sensors that offer an unrivalled combination of high accuracy, energy efficiency and low maintenance. By leveraging internet technologies, Seneye sensors have removed the need to test in person and will deliver the data instantly via cloud computing to wherever you are.

In addition, the Industrial Design Team have created sensor package housings to resist even the harshest outdoor environments.

Available test parameters include:

  • pH
  • Temperature
  • Ammonia
  • Dissolved Oxygen
  • Turbidity
  • Water Level
  • Light

Seneye’s unrivalled line-up of revolutionary water monitoring solutions is ideal for multiple outdoor applications, including:

  • Ornamental Ponds
  • Aquaculture Facilities
  • Seafood Processing
  • Wastewater Management
  • Combined Sewerage Outlets (CSOs)
  • Rain-Fall Monitoring

Case Study: Bord Iascaigh Mhara - Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency

Bord Iascaigh Mhara “helps to develop the Irish Seafood Industry by providing technical expertise, business support, funding, training and promoting responsible environmental practice.”

The board also assists Irish fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood processing businesses with certifications to recognise the highest standards in sustainability, environmental management, food safety & quality.

To help them do this, BIM collaborates with forward-thinking industry partners to find innovative solutions to the problems faced by their partners.

Traceability has become an essential measure for evaluating the health and welfare of seafood, and a vital component of this comprehensive process involves the monitoring and recording of crucial water quality parameters.

BIUM have used Seneye devices since 2018 as an example of how technology can help the seafood industry improve animal welfare, protect the environment, raise productivity, and save money.

By removing the need to test in person and delivering the data instantly, Seneye Internet of Things (IoT) sensors let seafood industry professionals keep a close eye on the lifeblood of their business - the water - and prevent problems before they become significant and costly.

In addition, the Seneye dashboard records all test data, allowing instant reports to be produced to demonstrate best practices for traceability or regulatory requirements.

Case Study: Brazilian Fish Farm

Seneye has always prided itself on being a ‘can-do’ company, taking on projects involving livestock regardless of their scale. In 2018, we received a request from the University of Bedfordshire to assist with a research project focused on enhancing artisanal fisheries in southern Brazil.

The brief was to provide a ‘low-cost, easy-to-use solution’ for Tilapia farmers to monitor their fisheries and be notified to any parameters falling out of set alert lines. The low cost and easy to use part was easy but the major concern was the impact of harsh temperatures on the devices, considering the remote location of the fisheries. Could our devices endure such conditions?

Fortunately, drawing from our extensive experience, we knew that our products were constructed from remarkably durable materials, making them well-suited to withstand the Brazilian heat and stand the test of time. With this knowledge, we took on the challenge without hesitation.

The commercial nodes were sent to Brazil, and thanks to some clever innovations by the team on-site, they were successfully deployed, allowing crucial data collection to support the improvement of fisheries in Southern Brazil.

Our primary objective has consistently revolved around safeguarding aquatic life, not only for the well-being of the ecosystem itself but also to support the livelihoods of the people who farm them. The expansion of tilapia aquaculture in rural, urban, and periurban regions is instrumental in improving the welfare of underprivileged communities in developing countries and we are proud that our sensors play a crucial part in making this possible. This deployment also reinforces our commitment to assisting countries through the provision of affordable sensors, which can greatly benefit people in economically disadvantaged nations.
